Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Regular Business Meeting October 14, 2025 ADOPTED Page 1 of 6 pages Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: October 14, 2025 Galiano South Community Hall 141 Sturdies Bay Road, Galiano Island, BC Members Present: David Maude, Chair Ben Mabberley, Local Trustee Lisa Gauvreau, Local Trustee Staff Present: Stefan Cermak, Director Planning Services (electronic) Others Present: There were 7 members of the public present. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Maude called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m. and noted that Chair Peterson sent regrets as he was unable to attend the meeting due to a Lasqueti ferry cancellation. 2. TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Chair Maude acknowledged that the meeting was being held in the territory of the Coast Salish First Nations and Trustee Maberly acknowledged that the meeting was being held in the territory of the Penelakut Tribe and Coast Salish peoples. 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA By general consent the agenda was approved as presented. 4. TRUSTEE REPORT Trustee Gauvreau reported the following: • Reporting as Chair of the Accessibility Committee she noted the committee is in the process of developing an Accessibility Plan and seeking Board members • Attended the Xew’etay/Lasqueti Archeology Project webinar titled Protecting and Honouring Indigenous Heritage through Archaeology, Policy and Planning • Attended Island Trust Conservancy meeting • The Local Trust Committee held a special meeting to discuss the Associated Islands Regulation Review Project • Noted the recent celebration of life held for respected resident Ian Maday Trustee Mabberley reported the following: • Attended ceremonies for Orange Shirt Day • Recognized local resident and farmer Lief Palmberg who won BCs Giant Pumpkin competition ADOPTED Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Regular Business Meeting October 14, 2025 ADOPTED Page 2 of 6 pages 5. CHAIR'S REPORT Chair Maude reported that due to the British Columbia General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) strike action some Local Trust Committee meetings would be cancelled and Community Information Meetings regarding the draft Trust Policy Statement would be postponed. 6. ELECTORAL AREA DIRECTOR'S REPORT - None 7. FIRST NATION REPORT - None 8. TOWN HALL AND QUESTIONS A member of the public stated appreciation for starting the Associated Island Regulation Review project and improving the parking at Montague Harbour. A member of the public requested the Community Information Meeting on the draft Trust Policy Statement to be held outside of regular business hours. By general consent discussion on rescheduling of the Community Information Meeting will be added as New Business Item 19.3 – Policy Statement Engagement Options. A member of the public requested the Local Trust Committee report on a local housing project and that the minutes of the last Local Trust Committee meeting
