Petition to Abolish the Islands Trust
We, the undersigned, call on the Province of British Columbia to abolish the Islands Trust and return land-use planning authority to accountable, elected local government.
“Accountable, elected local government” means a municipality where an island wants one, and the regional district where it does not. This petition does not require you to support incorporation. The town petitions are a different instrument, used because current law will not let an island become a regular municipality while the Trust area exists.
