Subject: Ship Anchorages Gulf Islands 
 
Dear Island Trust Executive: 
               I would like to have the issue of ships anchorage added to the December, 2022 Agenda. I am 
concerned that the Port of Vancouver (POV) and Transport Canada are going to use their community 
engagement process to justify making the anchorages permanent with no input from Islands Trust. This 
is why I think it is important that Islands Trust act quickly.  
               I am wondering whether a new Island Trust Executive should rethink whether their current 
strategy of simple opposition to ship anchorages will lead to a long-term solution? Maybe it’s time to 
call on the Transport Canada minister to ask POV, Transport Canada, and Islands Trust to negotiate a 
long-term protocol? At least then, Island Trust is part of the process.
