Re:  Eligibility for Review by the Auditor General for Local Government 
 
I am writing in response to your letter dated January 17, 2020 both to thank you for your offer to work 
with Ministry staff and to provide some clarification on our request.  Indeed, it is our wish to be included 
in the Auditor General for Local Government’s scope of work so that we can be eligible for ‘value for 
money’ audits rather than financial audits. 
 
We currently conduct financial audits annually using external auditors and are satisfied with that 
approach.  Nevertheless, application of the Auditor General for Local Government Act to Islands Trust 
would allow for a performance-based audit whether on a themed  or organizational basis. 
 
We will continue to liaise with Ministry staff and hope this clarification will assist you and your staff in 
working with us towards this legislative change.
