At the February 7, 2019 regular meeting the Denman Island Local Trust Committee (LTC) considered this application and passed the following resolution: DE-2019-017 that the Denman Island Local Trust Committee send a letter signed by the Chair in response to the consultation on the application for a Pesticide Use Permit to eradicate invasive intertidal cordgrass infestations, expressing support for manual removal techniques only, on Denman Island. Please note that the Local Trust Committee’s resolution aligns with the Denman Island Official Community Plan advocacy policy, “Government agencies should discourage the use of chemical biocides in the Denman Island Trust Area”, and that Denman Island has previously been excluded from the Pesticide Use Permit boundary (Permit No. 138-0211-2016/2019).
