"GABRIOLA ISLAND OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN (GABRIOLA), 1997, 
AMENDMENT NO. 2, 2017"

Media and Others: One (1) member of the local media and twelve (12) members of the public 
were in attendance. 
 
1. CALL TO ORDER 
 
Chair Busheikin called the meeting to order at 10:45 am  
 
2. INTRODUCTIONS AND OPENING STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIR 
 
Chair Busheikin read a formal statement explaining the public hearing regarding the 
Proposed Bylaw Nos. 291 and 294.  She stated that all persons who believe their 
interest is affected by the bylaws would be given the opportunity to express their 
concerns and that further submissions cannot be received by the Local Trust Committee 
after the close of the public hearing.  
 
3. REVIEW OF PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE 
 
Island Planner Zupanec reviewed the Public Hearing Notice.  She stated that the 
purpose of Bylaw No. 291 was to amend the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) to allow changes to 
sign regulations and definitions, and Bylaw No. 294 was an amendment to correct text

labeling in Section 9.1 of the Official Community Plan (OCP) development permit area 
three (DP3) Riparian Areas to replace all references to D1 and D2 on the schedule with 
D as shown on the schedule.  She noted that all information is available at the Islands 
Trust office and in a binder at this meeting.  She summarized agency referral responses 
for each of the Bylaws. 
 
4. PROPOSED BYLAW NO. 294 -COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC 
 
There were no comments or questions made by the public. 
 
5. PROPOSED BYLAW NO. 291 -COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC 
 
There were no comment or questions made by the public. 
 
Chair Busheikin asked the public for any other comments or submissions. The Chair 
asked again for any further comments or submissions. The Chair asked a third and final 
time for submissions. Hearing none, Chair Busheikin closed the meeting. 
 
17. ADJOURNEMENT 
 
By general consent, the meeting adjourned at 10:53 am.
