North Pender Island Local Trust Committee PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Proposed Bylaw No. 235 Raptor Nest Mapping Development Permit Area Project The North Pender Island Local Trust Committee invites the public to attend a Public Hearing beginning at 10:00 am, Friday, April 10, 2026, St. Peter’s Anglican Church Hall, 4703 Canal Road, North Pender Island, to hear your views regarding Proposed Bylaw No. 235. A Community Information Meeting will be held before the Public Hearing for you to learn more about the bylaw and to ask questions. What is Proposed Bylaw No. 235 about? If adopted, proposed Bylaw No. 235 would replace the current Official Community Plan No. 171 (OCP) Development Permit Area 7 Raptor and Heron Nests (DPA 7) section with an amended section that updates DPA 7 provisions. The update will better align with more recent provincial best practices for raptor and heron conservation, and replaces the existing Schedule O map with a new Schedule O map showing proposed updated nest tree locations and their associated buffer areas based on provincial guidelines. How Do I Get More Information? Copies of the proposed bylaw including the Schedule O map showing proposed nest site locations and their associated buffer areas, the Public Hearing Binder, and other information is available online from March 27, 2026 to April 9, 2026 here: https://islandstrust.bc.ca/island-planning/north-pender/projects/ and at the Islands Trust Victoria Office, 200-1627 Fort Street, Victoria, BC V8R 1H8 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. Enquiries? Contact the Islands Trust Victoria Office, by email: southinfo@islandstrust.bc.ca, or phone: 250-405-5194. Written submissions? Written submissions will be accepted until 4:30 p.m., April 9, 2026 to: Islands Trust, 200-1627 Fort Street, Victoria, BC V8R 1H8 or email: vicphsub@islandstrust.bc.ca. Written submissions made in response to this notice will be available for public review.
