Re: Bill 44 Housing Statutes (Residential Development) Amendment Act, 2023

Dear Minister Kahlon
,

The Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee (SS LTC) passed the following resolution on November 16,
2023.
“
That the Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee request the Chair of the Salt Spring Local
Trust Committee to send a letter to the Minister of Housing and the Premier’s office requesting
that Salt Spring Island Local Trust Area be included in Bill 44 as if it were a municipality with a
population of greater than 10,000, marked with high importance and urgent, no later than
November 21, 2023.”
On behalf of the SS LTC I am expressing our desire to be included within all aspects of Bill 44 extended
to municipalities with a population greater than 10,000 to help our community address the housing
crisis we are experiencing and, specifically, the severe shortage of workforce housing.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,

Timothy Peterson
Chair, Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee
