 The second of four Town Hall Special Meetings had 31 members of the public in attendance.
 Items addressed
 during the meeting included the following topics:
o The Salt Spring Island Fire Protection District
 fire hall to be built on Lower Ganges Road
o Regulation of “live-aboards” and environmental concerns in Ganges Harbour
o Invasive plant species
 management on private property
o Proposed Bylaw No. 530 Accessory Dwelling Units
o First Nations
 referrals processes
o Farm land in the Agricultural Land Reserve
The next LTC Special Meeting Town Hall will be held on September 13, 2023, 5:00 p.m., at Beaver Point Hall,

 Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee Regular Meeting Highlights:
 Regular Meetings
 also include a morning Town Hall session. On July 13, 24 members of the public were 
present and many spoke regarding the referral consideration to add additional seating and extend service 
hours at a brewery on Furness Road (SS-LCB-2022.1).
 During the business portion of the meeting the
 LTC:
o approved a development variance permit (SS-DVP-2023.3) for 38 McKenzie Crescent, Piers Island,
to  enable  a  proposed  37  square  metre  auxiliary  guest  cottage  to  be  attached  to  a  27.7  square 
metre storage room
o recommended approval of a referral for a liquor license at 270 Furness Road (SS-LCB-2022.1). The 
LTC requested that  staff include record of the community  consultation with the approval to  the 
Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch
o endorsed an
 application for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation Housing Accelerator 
Fund Grant application.
o endorsed the Salt Spring Island Watershed Protection Plan
 – Phase 2
o approved in principle the Salt Spring Island Watershed Protection Plan and
 requested staff initiate 
facilitation  of the  transition  of  the coordinating  function  of  the Salt  Spring  Island  Watershed 
Protection Alliance to the Capital Regional District.
o approved Trustee Patrick to attend the Union of B.C. Municipalities 2023 convention.
