The Sunshine Coast Regional District is investigating the feasibility of improving water supply on the Island. Part of their investigation involves groundwater and wells. However, no water well data was available in the Groundwater Section Data Base for this Island. In early October,1992, the author spent two days on Keats Island. During this time a well inventory was carried out, five wells were sampled for chemical analysis, and a beginning made on a hydrogeological investigation of the Island. On completion, the Groundwater Section's Data Base was updated with the new water well record and chemistry information obtained, and four new 1 to 5,000 Water Well Location Maps, conforming to the British Columbia Geographical System (BCGS), were prepared for the Island.
