Mayne Island Local Trust Committee PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE Proposed Bylaws 194 and 195 Application: MA-RZ-2023.2 (CRD) The Mayne Island Local Trust Committee invites the public to attend a Public Hearing beginning at 1:30 pm, Monday, September 29, 2025, Mayne Island Agricultural Hall, 430 Fernhill Road, Mayne Island, to hear your views regarding Proposed Bylaws 194 and 195. Community Information Meeting will be held before the Public Hearing for you to learn more about the bylaws and to ask questions. What are Proposed Bylaws 194 and 195 about? Bylaws 194 (OCP) and 195 (LUB) are related to the rezoning of St. John Point Park. The lot is currently split zoned Agricultural (A) and Rural (R). Bylaw 194 changes the portion of the lot currently designated as Rural (R) to Resource Conservation (RC). Bylaw 195 changes the portion of the lot currently zoned as Rural (R) to Resource Conservation (RC) and a portion of the lot zoned Agriculture (A) to a site specific zone A(a) to accommodate a 0.7 hectare park hub (including entrance sign, 20 vehicle parking, toilet building, bike rack and visitor information kiosk). The portion of the lot currently zoned Agriculture is in the Agricultural Land Reserve. The Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) approved the portion to be zoned A (a) for non farm use. The property is legally described as LOT B, SECTION 1, MAYNE ISLAND, COWICHAN DISTRICT, PLAN 2501.
