ADOPTED Thetis Island Local Trust Committee Minutes February 4, 2025 ADOPTED 1 of 6 Thetis Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: February 4, 2025 Electronic Meeting Members Present: Tobi Elliott, Chair Peter Luckham, Local Trustee Ken Hunter, Local Trustee Staff Present: Renée Jamurat, Regional Planning Manager Margot Thomaidis, Planner 2 Warren Dingman, Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Manager Lisa Millard, Meeting Administrator/Recorder Others Present: There were no members of the public in attendance. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Elliott called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. 2. TERRITORIAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Chair Elliott acknowledged that the meeting was held on the territory of the Coast Salish First Nations and spoke to upholding the principles of respect, reciprocity, relationship, reconciliation, and resurgence for Indigenous Peoples in their territories. 3. APPROVAL OF AGENDA By general consent, the agenda was approved as presented. 4. REPORTS 4.1 Trustee Reports Trustee Hunter reported the removal of derelict vehicles on Lot 88. Trustee Luckham recognized Rosa Louise McCauley Parks as the first lady of civil rights and mother of the freedom movement and acknowledged her demonstration of personal power to make change, and he encouraged support of Canadians and Canadian businesses. 4.2 Chair's Report Chair Elliott reported the following: • Acknowledged tragedy of the recent fire on Penelakut Island and impacts to the displaced families, and noted that fundraising campaign information was shared by Senior Indigenous Advisor Joe Elliott; • Financial Planning Committee will undertake public engagement on budgetary processes for the 2026/27 fiscal year; ADOPTED Thetis Island Local Trust Committee Minutes February 4, 2025 ADOPTED 2 of 6 • Attendance at Committee of the Whole meetings to continue work on draft Policy Statement; • New Chief Administrative Officer Rueben Bronee has been meeting with Trustees on an individual basis; and • Technical group for the tiny house project will be meeting soon to explore regulations to facilitate the legalization of tiny homes on wheels and provide recommendations to be made at the upcoming Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities meeting. 4.3 Electoral Area Director's Report - none 5. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no members of the public present. The Regional Planning Manager noted a member of the public planned to attend the meeting to share information about an upcoming proposal they would like to make; however, they were unable to attend due to inclement weather and forwarded an email for information. Chair Elliott added the email from Doug Fenton as late correspondence. 6. MINUTES 6.1 Local Trust Committee Minutes dated September 10, 2024 - for adoption By general consent, the Local Trust Committee meeting minutes of September, 10, 2024 were adopted. 6.2 Local Trust Committe
