March 11-13, 2025, Islands Trust Council Meeting Program Highlights Announced 
 
Lək̓ ʷəŋən, METULIYE/Victoria, B.C. – Islands Trust Council invites the public to participate in its next business meeting 
being held in Nanaimo at the Dorchester Hotel, 70 Church Street, March 11-13, 2025. There will be multiple options for 
participating in, or viewing the meeting. The public is welcome to attend in-person, listen and participate by telephone, 
join the meeting by computer or smartphone, or watch the meeting on a computer or smartphone. 
 
Islands Trust Council meets quarterly to make decisions about matters that apply to the Islands Trust Area and Islands 
Trust operations. Islands Trust Council receives, discusses, and makes decisions about policies, finances, and proposed 
work for the coming quarter.  
Featured Sessions 
 
Islands Trust Draft 2025/26 Budget – Islands Trust Council will review and finalize its 2025/26 budget. 
 
Islands Trust Strategic Plan – Following strategic planning sessions at the March 2024 and June 2024 Islands Trust Council 
meetings, the draft 2025-2028 Islands Trust Strategic Plan will return to Islands Trust Council for consideration of 
approval.  
 
BC Ferries Joint Session –  BC Ferries will provide an overview of their initiative to develop a new engagement framework 
with input from coastal communities. 
 
Delegations and Public Comment Period – Members of the public are invited to present as a delegate to Islands Trust 
Council or speak at the Public Comments portion of the meeting on matters affecting the Trust Area. Anyone wishing to 
present as a delegate is required to submit this form along with a complete presentation by February 18, 2025. Visit

The final meeting schedule and agenda package will be posted to the meeting page on the Islands Trust website by March 
3, 2025.  
 
Trust Council works to preserve and protect over 450 islands and their surrounding waters in the Salish Sea and welcomes 
input, comments, ideas, and feedback on topics related to the jurisdiction of the Islands Trust Council.

Islands Trust is a special-purpose government representing over 30,000 people living within the Islands Trust Area and 
10,000 non-resident property owners. The Islands Trust Area is located within Coast Salish territory and is the homeland 
to many Coast Salish Peoples who have called this place home since time immemorial. Islands Trust is responsible for 
preserving and protecting the Islands Trust Area and its unique amenities and environment through conservation-
oriented land use planning and regulation, education, and cooperation with First Nations and other agencies. The Islands
