PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE 
Proposed Bylaw Nos. 228 and 229 
Denman Farming Regulations Review Project 
 
The Denman Island Local Trust  Committee  invites  the public to attend a Public Hearing beginning at 10:30 am, Tuesday, 
February 13, 2024, Denman Activity Centre, 1111 Northwest Road, Denman Island, to hear your views regarding Proposed 
Bylaw Nos. 228 and 229. 
 10:15 AM – Community Information Meeting will be held before the Public Hearing for you to learn more about 
the bylaws and to ask questions 
 10:30 AM – Public Hearing 
What are Bylaw Nos. 228 and 229 about? 
Amendments to the  OCP and LUB are part of the Denman Island Farming Regulations Review Project to formally protect 
Denman Island’s land base for agriculture.  
Bylaw No. 228 will amend the Denman Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 185, 2008 (OCP) by: 
 Re-designating all lands within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) to a new ‘Agriculture’ designation; and   
 Several new policies supporting agriculture uses consistent with the Agricultural Land Commission regulations. 
Bylaw No. 229 will amend the Denman Island Land Use Bylaw No. 186, 2008 (LUB) by: 
 Regulating dwellings in the ALR; 
 Regulating agritourism use and accommodation;  
 Updating several agricultural related definitions; and  
 Updating setback regulations for associated agriculture buildings.

2024.

ITS MEMBERS, AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE PUBLIC HEARING.
