ADOPTED Thetis Island ADOPTED 1 Local Trust Committee Minutes September 5, 2023 Thetis Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: September 5, 2023 Forbes Hall Community Centre North Cove Road, Thetis Island, BC Members Present: Tobi Elliott, Chair Peter Luckham, Local Trustee Ken Hunter, Local Trustee Staff Present: Marlis McCargar, Island Planner (attended electronically) Vicky Bockman, Recorder Others Present: There were no members of the public and no members of the media in attendance. 1. CALL TO ORDER "Please note, the order of agenda items may be modified during the meeting. Times are provided for convenience only and are subject to change." Chair Elliott called the meeting to order at 9:34 a.m. She acknowledged that the meeting was held on the territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. She introduced herself, Trustees, staff and recorder and advised that the meeting was being recorded; however, technical difficulties were delaying the live streaming of the meeting. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA By general consent the agenda was approved as presented. 3. REPORTS 3.1 Trustee Reports Trustee Hunter reported on the following: He attended a Ferry Advisory Committee meeting and confirmed that the MV Kahloke will replace the MV Kuper during the refit the schedule is under consideration. He noted that MV Kahloke might not be able to handle as much commercial traffic as the MV Kuper, which may present some difficulties. He noted that a Neighbourhood Watch program is being considered in response to recent thefts on the island. Trustee Luckham reported on the following: ADOPTED Thetis Island ADOPTED 2 Local Trust Committee Minutes September 5, 2023 He attended the last court hearing regarding Pegg Lot 88 as a spectator where a guilty verdict was delivered for contempt of court; and noted that sentencing the next step toward resolution of this matter. He advised that the legal opinion regarding emergency powers in relation to 88 Pilkey Point Road has been released for the public’s information. She attended a celebration on Lasqueti Island for the first conservation covenant to be placed on private property.
