This
Bowen
Island
Affordable
HousingStrategy
is a
response
to
the
growing
problemof
unaffordablehousing
on
Bowen
Island.
Concerned
community
members
formed
the
Bowen
CommunityHousing
Association(BCHA)
in
2006
with
the
aim
oftaking
action
to
maintain
the
diversityofisland
lifestyles
andresidents.The
Affordable
Housing
Strategy
Committee
(AHSC)
consistingof
BCHA
members,
municipalstaff,
Council
liaison,
andother
community
representatives,
has
developed
this
strategy
with
communityinput
to
facilitatethe
development
of
affordable
housing
onBowen.
TheAHSC’sgoal
is
for
the
Bowen
IslandMunicipalCouncil
to
adopt
the
strategy
and
proceed
to
implementation.
The
BCHA
retainedEberlePlanningandResearch
to
conduct
a
housing

assist
with

development
of
an

strategy.
