Dear Mayor Leonard and Council:
Re: Meeting with elected officials in ferry-affected communities
On behalf of the Islands Trust Council, I am writing to thank you for your letter dated May 30, 2025,
which was received and reviewed at the June 2025 Trust Council meeting. We appreciate your 
request for Islands Trust to convene a meeting with ferry authorities, small communities, and 
elected officials to explore solutions to ferry-related issues.
Trust Council is highly supportive of Islands Trust acting as a convenor for ferry and other advocacy
issues, however, at this time, due to the Policy Statement Amendment project, we are concerned 
that we do not have sufficient staff capacity to undertake organizing a meeting such as this.
We do look forward to providing support on initiatives such as this in the future and regret that we 
are unable to be of assistance at this time.
