North Pender Island Local Trust Committee Regular Business Meeting May 5, 2023 ADOPTED Page 1 of 7 North Pender Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: May 5, 2023 Anglican Parish Hall 4703 Canal Road, RR 1, North Pender Island BC Members Present: David Maude, Chair Deb Morrison, Local Trustee Aaron Campbell, Local Trustee Staff Present: Robert Kojima, Regional Planning Manager Brad Smith, Island Planner Narissa Chadwick, Island Planner (via Zoom) Warren Dingman, Bylaw Enforcement Manager Fran Munro, Recorder Others Present: Approximately 5 members of the public were present. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Maude called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. He acknowledged that the meeting was being held in traditional territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA By general consent, the agenda was adopted as presented. 3. TRUSTEE REPORT Trustee Campbell advised he has been meeting with people and receiving emails and letters. Most of their issues revolve around housing. He attended the Housing Summit. Trustee Morrison advised of work on Fire Smart and the Forest Management issues. 4. CHAIR'S REPORT There is agreement on a common sense approach for all and that everyone is working well together. The housing project on Mayne Island is taking giant steps. The Budget from the last Trust Council meeting was a smoother process and sets the foundation for next year. TOWN HALL AND QUESTIONS Michael Sketch discussed the proposed Groundwater DPA and how many trees can be removed per hectare. Lots larger than 3 acres can remove 5 trees per hectare. He questioned if this could be increased for firewood use. 7. COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETING – None 8. PUBLIC HEARING – None 9. MINUTES 9.1 Local Trust Committee Special Meeting Minutes Dated March 11, 2023 (for Adoption) By general consent, the minutes were adopted as presented. 9.2 Local Trust Committee Minutes Dated March 17, 2023 (for Adoption) By general consent, the minutes were adopted as presented. 9.3 Local Trust Committee Public Hearing Record Dated March 17, 2023 (for Receipt) Received for information. 9.4 Section 26 Resolutions-without-meeting Report - None 9.5 Advisory Planning Commission Minutes – None 10. CORRESPONDENCE Correspondence received concerning current applications or projects is posted to the LTC webpage. 12.1 Various Correspondence re North Pender Forestry Concerns – A total of 48 pieces of public correspondence have been received and provided to the LTC as a combined file.
