Results of Online Public Survey re DRAFT 2023/24 Budget Survey regarding a 
proposed Special Tax Requisition in the Salt Spring Island Local Trust Area  
to support watershed management 
 
Between January 26 and February 6, 2023, the public was invited to comment on a proposed Special Tax 
Requisition in the Salt Spring Island Local Trust Area to support watershed management through an 
online anonymous survey.  
 
The survey was completed by 143 members of the public and took, on average, five minutes to 
complete with an 86% estimated completion rate.  
 
So that context is provided, the full text of the survey has been included below alongside the results, 
which also features the raw data of all responses submitted through the survey.  
 
Where duplicate answers are provided, they were provided in different survey responses.

About the Survey 
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey about Salt Spring Island Local Trust Committee's 
proposed special tax requisition to support the Salt Spring Island Watershed Protection Alliance 
(SSWIPA) in 2023/2024. We value your input. Before you start, there are some things you need to know: 
 
Where does your input go? 
All correspondence and survey results on the draft budget are shared with Islands Trust’s Salt Spring 
Island Local Trust Committee and Financial Planning Committee in February. Both will consider public 
input when developing budget recommendations to Islands Trust Council. At the March Trust Council 
meeting, all Trustees will also see all correspondence and survey results. 
Please be advised that the proposed budget number is DRAFT only, and is subject to change before final 
approval by Trust Council at its next quarterly meeting from March 7-9, 2023.
