Your request for comment arrived during an incredibly busy time for local governments and Islands Trust as we transition after local elections on October 15, 2022. We do not swear in new trustees until November 17, 2022. Historically, this has been a very important topic for Islands Trust but we do not have the capacity to respond at this time. In 2011, Islands Trust was the first agency to raise concerns and questions about the state of oil spill response preparedness for diluted bitumen and other heavy unconventional oils being shipped in tankers from Burnaby. Thank you for considering this important request. We look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Peter Luckham Chair, Islands Trust Council pluckham@islandstrust.bc.ca cc: BC Environmental Assessment Office Bowen Island Municipal Council Islands Trust Council Islands Trust website
