There were 3 members of the public in attendance.  
1. CALL TO ORDER 
Chair Luckham called the meeting to order at 9:31 am. He acknowledged that the meeting was 
being held in territory of the Coast Salish First Nations and introduced the staff and Trustees. 
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA 
The following additions to the agenda were presented for consideration: 
Add Moorages and Shoreline Development to 9.3. 
Switch the order of 9.2 and 9.1. 
By general consent the agenda was adopted as amended. 
3. REPORTS 
3.1 Trustee Reports 
Trustee Johnston reported: 
 He investigated the Safe Island proposal, which is a sharing of property. 
 Regarding the letter from Rhonda Morris about the Snaw-na-as Woodlot License, 
and acting alone, he wrote to Chief Edwards, letting him know that we have a 
growing interest in reconciliation and that no commercial logging has happened in 
more than 25 years.  Cindy Stern, CEO of the Snaw-na-as Development Company, 
wrote back and noted that they have no immediate plans to log and that if and 
when logging was considered, they would consult with the community.  Another 
councillor later called and expressed his excitement to come back to the south end 
of the island

 Regarding sheep, a group has been organizing to protect the sheep but he is not 
aware of any group working to remove them.  He understands that three different 
types of enclosures are being built, one to exclude sheep only, one to exclude deer 
only, and one to exclude both sheep and deer. 
The Chair requested that the letter Trustee Johnston wrote to the Snaw-na-as be put in 
the public file. 
Trustee Peterson reported: 
 Sheep are a hot topic at the moment. 
 As part of the Islands Trust’s Regional Planning Committee, they are working on 
strategic plan items, including shoreline review, freshwater sustainability and 
groundwater mapping. 
 As Vice-Chair of the Trust’s Programs Committee, they are working on the policy 
statement. 
 His appreciation of Lisa Wilcox, Senior intergovernmental Policy Advisor, for her 
insights and willingness to be available; she is a very valuable resource. 
3.2 Chair's Report 
Chair Luckham reported: 
 He received many letters about sheep and the First Nations Woodlot License. 
 Islands Trust budget was adopted at the end of March, and their Reconcili
