During the planning process, the LTC requests that BC Ferries consider results from a recent community questionnaire for the Gabriola Island Water Taxi Zoning Review project. Results from the questionnaire indicate strong community support for water taxi use in Descanso Bay. Eighty-two percent (82%) of respondents supported or strongly supported zoning to permit water taxi use within the Water Commercial 3 – Marine Transportation (WC3) zone, which includes an area of Descanso Bay. Ninety-two percent (92%) of respondents indicated Descanso Bay was the preferred location for water taxi use because there is existing infrastructure and it is accessible for most of the island’s population. Thank you for your consideration of the information provided.
