1. CALL TO ORDER 
 
Vice-Chair Harris called the meeting to order at 3:33 p.m. as Chair Gedye was not present 
at that time.

2.1 Approval of Agenda 
 
By general consent the agenda was approved as presented. 
 
3. BUSINESS - WORK PROGRAM ITEMS 
 
3.1 Trustee Remuneration Review 
 
Director Mobbs introduced Paul Murray, Principal Consultant of the Brentwood 
Advisory Group. 
 
Trustee Gedye arrived at the meeting at 3:36 p.m. and assumed the role of chair. 
 
3.1.1 Consultant’s Report: Islands Trust Trustee Remuneration Review 
 
Paul Murray provided a presentation of his trustee remuneration review.

Committee discussion included: 
• using electoral area director compensation as a comparator for trustee 
compensation 
• Islands Trust processes in regards to reviews of trustee remunerations 
follow best practices recommended by the Union of British Columbia 
Municipalities 
• some Islands Trust local trust areas have a high recreational/part-time 
residency which impacts trustee workload 
• the level of compensation impacts the likelihood of attracting a wide 
range of individuals who run for trustee election  
 
3.1.2 Draft Trust Council Request For Decision: Trustee Remuneration Policy 
Amendments 
 
Committee discussion included: 
• Section 104 of the Community Charter allows an exception to financial 
conflict of interest rules when discussing remuneration 
• Committee members will forward to Director Marlor suggestions for 
minor grammatical edits to the draft policy amendments 
• trustee workload has increased substantially over several terms 
• trustee compensation policy has not undergone an independent review 
for approximately sixteen years although minor administrative changes 
to the policy have occurred during that time 
• any increase to trustee remuneration will impact the
