September 16-18, 2025, Islands Trust Council Meeting Announced 
 
Lək̓ ʷəŋən, METULIYE/Victoria, B.C. – Islands Trust Council invites the public to participate in its next business 
meeting being held on Gabriola Island at the The Haven, 240 Davis Road, September 16-18, 2025. There are 
multiple options to attend or view the meeting, such as attend in-person, by telephone, by computer or 
smartphone. 
 
Islands Trust Council, which is comprised of the 24 local trustees and two municipal trustees, meets quarterly to 
make decisions about matters that apply to the entire Islands Trust Area and Islands Trust operations. Islands Trust 
Council receives, discusses, and makes decisions about policies, finances, and proposed work for the coming 
quarter.  
Featured Sessions 
 
First Nations Referral Framework – The First Nations Referral Framework will examine how Trust Council and local 
trust committees might engage with First Nations to improve referral processes, communications, and advance 
reconciliation commitments. 
 
Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Best Practices Manual – Islands Trust Council will be reviewing the updated 
Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Best Practices manual for endorsement of draft amendments. Final approval 
will be considered along with an implementation plan in December.  
 
Governance Review Recommendations – Islands Trust Council will consider recommendations from the 
Governance Committee on prioritizing actions to address the recommendations of the 2022 Islands Trust 
Governance Review report.  
 
Delegations and Public Comment Period – Members of the public are invited to present as a delegate to Islands 
Trust Council or speak at the Public Comments portion of the meeting on matters affecting the Trust Area. Anyone 
wishing to present as a delegate is required to submit this form along with a complete presentation by August
