Pender, Thetis March 31, 2025 – for immediate release 2025-7-IT Islands Trust Announces New Local Trust Committee Chairs Lək̓ ʷəŋən, METULIYE/Victoria, B.C. – On March 18, 2025, Islands Trust Chair Laura Patrick confirmed that, following the resignation of former Chair Peter Luckham, local trust committee chair appointments will remain unchanged except for Chair Patrick taking over as Chair for the Gabriola Island and Gambier Island Local Trust Committees, which were formally chaired by Peter Luckham. The Island Trust Chair appoints the chairs for each of the 12 local trust committees within the Islands Trust Area, in accordance with the Islands Trust Act. Local trust committee chairs are selected from among the four members of the Islands Trust Executive Committee. Each appointed chair joins two locally elected trustees to form the local trust committee for their designated island area. Local trust committees are responsible for land use planning and regulation within their jurisdictions.
