Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Public Hearing Record November 14, 2023 Page 1 of 2 Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Record of a Public Hearing Proposed Bylaws 287 and 288 Date: Location: November 14, 2023 Galiano South Community Hall 141 Sturdies Bay Road, Galiano Island, BC Members Present: Timothy Peterson, Chair Ben Mabberley, Local Trustee Lisa Gauvreau, Local Trustee Staff Present: Kim Stockdill, Island Planner Others Present: Approximately twelve (12) members of the public were present. 9.1 GL-RZ-2022.2 (Hayes) - Proposed Bylaws 287 and 288 Chair Peterson called the Public Hearing to order at 1:24 p.m. He acknowledged that the meeting was being held on the territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. He read a statement outlining the content, purpose, and process of the Public Hearing. Island Planner Stockdill read a statement related to the purpose of proposed Bylaw Nos. 287 and 288 and their development to date. The documents for review are in the public hearing binder and on the Islands Trust website. Written submissions must be submitted by the close of this hearing. There were no submissions received. Chair Peterson gave a 3-minute period for each speaker attending in-person today. Galiano Island Local Trust Committee Proposed Bylaw No. 287 – cited as “Galiano Island Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 108, 1995, Amendment No. 2, 2022" and Proposed Bylaw No. 288 – cited as “Galiano Island Land Use Bylaw No. 127, 1999, Amendment No. 2, 2022” public hearing is now open. It may be adjourned and reconvened. Chair Peterson called three times for speakers. The Chair explained that legislatively, the LTC cannot hear new information about this application following the public hearing.
