1. CALL TO ORDER AND APPROVAL OF AGENDA 
Chair Luckham called the meeting to order at 11:01 pm. He introduced and welcomed trustees, 
staff, and Regional District of Nanaimo Director Bob Rogers. He acknowledged that the group 
was fortunate to be able to gather in locations across the traditional territories of the Coast 
Salish people. He expressed heartfelt regret that the pandemic was hitting many communities 
hard and that many First Nations communities were having to lock down. He noted that the 
meeting was simultaneously livestreamed and in a webinar format and that the group would 
consider any members of the public to participate on the webinar format. 
By general consent the agenda was adopted as presented. 
2. TOWN HALL 
Vice-Chair Patrick offered that if members of the public wished to correspond with the Executive 
Committee Acting as a Local Trust Committee (Ballenas-Winchelsea Islands) (BWEXLTC) they 
could email through the Northern Office.   
Staff member Cottingham clarified that the proper email was northinfo@islandstrust.bc.ca. 
3. MINUTES 
3.1 Local Trust Committee Minutes - none 
Chair Luckham noted that the previous minutes would have been adopted by Resolution 
Without Meeting and were posted on the Islands Trust website.

4. BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES 
4.1 Follow-up Action List dated April 12, 2021 
Chair Luckham suggested that the status of Boat Tours be put on hold pending direction 
from the BWEXLTC. It was discussed that future Boat Tours could be of key importance 
to future relationship building.

9.1 Forest Conservation Outreach Briefing - for information 
Chair Luckham noted that the Ballenas-Winchelsea Islands did not meet criteria for 
forest conservation. Trustee Fast and Director Rogers spoke on the significance of the 
marine ecology of kelp forests in the Ballenas-Winchelsea region.
