Dear Mark Collins:

Re: Thank you for storm assistance

On behalf of the Islands Trust I would like to express our gratitude to BC Ferries and BC Ferries staff for
all the support provided to communities during the wind storm on December 20
th
, 2018. There are
many stories of small kindnesses and stories of organized assistance. We were impressed to learn that
you organized the delivery of a pallet of water by BC Ferries to Saturna Island for community members
who didn’t have power for their wells. We were also pleased to hear of BC Ferries’ swift attention to
infrastructure repairs such as the rebuilding of the BC Ferries dock on Penelakut Island after it was
damaged in the storm, and assistance with repairs to the Penelakut Island community dock to provide
safe access.

This support shown to coastal communities highlights the character and generosity of your employees,
and demonstrates BC Ferries’ understanding that it has an integral role to play in supporting the
well-being and resilience of island communities. Many community members are grateful, and I thank
you.

Please convey our thanks to all involved.

Yours sincerely,
