There are many stories of small kindnesses and stories of organized assistance. We were impressed to learn that you organized the delivery of a pallet of water by BC Ferries to Saturna Island for community members who didn’t have power for their wells. We were also pleased to hear of BC Ferries’ swift attention to infrastructure repairs such as the rebuilding of the BC Ferries dock on Penelakut Island after it was damaged in the storm, and assistance with repairs to the Penelakut Island community dock to provide safe access. This support shown to coastal communities highlights the character and generosity of your employees, and demonstrates BC Ferries’ understanding that it has an integral role to play in supporting the well-being and resilience of island communities. Many community members are grateful, and I thank you. Please convey our thanks to all involved. Yours sincerely, Peter Luckham Chair, Islands Trust Council pluckham@islandstrust.bc.ca cc: The Honourable Claire Trevena, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Penelakut Tribe Bowen Island Municipal Council Islands Trust Council Islands Trust website
