Public Present: Approximately 21 members of the public present. 
 
 
5.1.1 North Pender Island Local Trust Committee Bylaw 213 
 
Chair Grams recessed the Regular Meeting at 10:34 am to hold the Public 
Hearing.  He read a prepared statement outlining the content, purpose, and 
process of the Public Hearing.  
 
Planner Starke provided a summary of the Public Hearing notice and the agency 
referrals that were received. She also provided an overview of the proposed 
bylaw.  
 
Chair Grams invited members of the community to present submissions on the 
bylaw.  
 
 Julie Roper, recommended that the bylaw be specific to each site so that 
the public can provide input on specific sites.  
 
 Kathy Gilbert recommended that the picnic shelters be limited to a 
maximum size. She further noted that she is a member of the Magic Lake 
Property Owners Society, an organization that chose not to make a 
recommendation regarding this Bylaw, but that she is speaking on behalf 
of herself and not the organization. 
 
 Steve Alvie, provided perspective on the maximum area and height 
requested  which he suggested was comparable to a small house.

 Marjorie Lavigne noted that there is just one outhouse and a large 
shelter would be too much for the size of the parcel.  
 
Chair Grams made three calls for further submissions. No further submissions were made.  
 
 
Chair Grams closed the public hearing at 10:46 a.m.
