ISLANDS TRUST 
GALIANO ISLAND LOCAL TRUST COMMITTEE 
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING 
 
NOTICE is hereby given that the Galiano Island Local Trust Committee will hold a community information meeting and 
public hearing within a Local Trust Committee Special Meeting on the following proposed bylaws:   
     Proposed Bylaw No. 233 – cited as “Galiano Island Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 108, 1995, Amendment 
No. 15, 2011.”; and 
     Proposed Bylaw No. 234 – cited as “Galiano Island Land Use Bylaw No. 127, 1999, Amendment No. 4, 2011” 
 
for the purpose of allowing the public to make representations to the Local Trust Committee respecting matters contained 
in the proposed bylaws at 12:30 pm, Monday, September 19, 2016, at the Lions Hall, 992 Burrill Road, Galiano 
Island, BC. 
 
At the public hearing all persons who believe that their interest in property is affected by the proposed bylaws shall be 
afforded a reasonable opportunity to be heard or to present written submissions respecting matters contained in the 
proposed bylaws. 
 
Proposed Bylaw No. 233 – cited as “Galiano Island Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 108, 1995, Amendment No. 15, 
2011.” 
In general terms, the purpose of Proposed Bylaw No. 233 is to amend the Galiano Island Official Community Plan Bylaw 
No.108, 1995, Schedule B (Land Use Designations) in order to re-designate the lands legally described as Lot 1, District 
Lot 3, Galiano Island, Cowichan District, Plan VIP29196, to Community Housing (CH) as depicted in the map below. 
 
Proposed Bylaw No. 234 – cited as “Galiano Island Land Use Bylaw No. 127, 1999, Amendment No. 4, 2011” 
In general terms, the purpose of Proposed Bylaw No. 234 is to amend the Galiano Island Land Use Bylaw No. 127, 1999, 
Schedule B (Zoning Map) in order to rezone the lands legally described as Lot 1, District Lot 3, Galiano Island, Cowichan 
District, Plan 29196, to Community Housing 1 (CH1) as depicted in the map below and to permit the development of up to 
20 affordable housing units within a bare land strata subdivision.   
 
A copy of the proposed bylaws and any background material that may be considered by the Local Trust Committee in 
respect of the proposed bylaws may be inspected at the Islands Trust Office, #200 - 1627 Fort Street, Victoria, B.C. 
between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, inclusive, excluding statutory holidays, commencing 
September 7, 2016 and up to and including September 16, 2016. Background information may also be viewed on

For the convenience of the public only, and not to satisfy Section 892(2) (e) of the Local Government Act, additional 
copies of the proposed bylaws may be inspected at various Notice Boards on
 Galiano Island, B.C., commencing
