GALIANO LAND AND COMMUNITY HOUSING TRUST (GLCHT)  
AFFORDABLE HOUSING APPLICATION 
NOTICE OF OPEN HOUSE AND COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETING 
 
The Galiano Island Local Trust Committee (LTC) is currently reviewing an application to develop 20 
units of affordable housing by the Galiano Land and Community Housing Trust.    
 
This application has been part of the LTC meetings and community discussion for the past 2 years 
either formally or informally.  There have been many questions raised by both the LTC and the 
public regarding the application.  The LTC is now seeking community input into the process by 
conducting a formal Community Information Meeting (CIM).  Before proceeding further with any 
discussions on the application, the LTC is seeking your input and comment.   
 
An Open House and Community Information meeting will be held on: 
Saturday, November 16
th
 at the South Community Hall. 
Open House: 1-1:30 
Community Information Meeting: 1:30-4:00 pm 
 
The purpose of the Open House and Community Information Meeting is to provide an opportunity 
for the public to drop-in to ask questions concerning the Galiano Land and Community Housing 
Trust (GLCHT) directly with their representatives, agency representatives (CRD), the local trustees 
and planning staff.   
 
In brief, the GLCHT application is to rezone a 10 acre (4 ha) parcel of land to permit the 
construction of 20 affordable dwelling units ranging in size from 500 – 1000 sq. ft. (46.5-92.9 sq. 
m.). GLCHT is proposing a self-build, affordable (as per definition in the OCP) and green 
construction development. The respective bylaws (OCP Bylaws 233 and LUB 234) were given First 
Reading on July 9
th
, 2012.
