ADOPTED Gambier Island ADOPTED 1 Local Trust Committee Minutes April 29, 2024 Gambier Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: April 29, 2024 Electronic Meeting Members Present: Peter Luckham, Chair Kate-Louise Stamford, Trustee Joe Bernardo, Trustee Staff Present: Marlis McCargar, Island Planner Lisa Millard, Meeting Administrator / Recorder Others Present: There were approximately three members of the public in attendance. 1. CALL TO ORDER “Please note, the order of agenda items may be modified during the meeting. Times are provided for convenience only and are subject to change.” Chair Luckham called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm. He acknowledged that the meeting was held on the territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA By general consent the agenda was approved as presented. 3. REPORTS 3.1 Trustee Reports Trustee Stamford reported the following: She attended Trust Council meeting held in March 2024 during which the budget was passed; She attended the Howe Sound Community Forum on April 12, 2024; She attended the April, 2024 Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities convention and, as a representative of the Sunshine Coast Regional District, spoke to a motion requesting the provincial government to provide financial and strategic support for important dock structures in coastal waters; and ADOPTED Gambier Island ADOPTED 2 Local Trust Committee Minutes April 29, 2024 She has been working with the Rural and Economic Development Initiative Project for the Gambier Island Community, which recently brought Planners and students from the University of BC to the island for a day with the community. Planner Bernardo did not provide a report. 3.2 Chair's Report Chair Luckham reported the following: He is preparing for the June, 2024 Trust Council meeting being held on Salt Spring Island; and He attended the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities convention held in Victoria. 3.3 Electoral Area Director's Report Electoral Area Director Stamford highlighted the following: She attended the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities convention and spoke about the importance of maintaining important dock structures; She met with the President of BC Ferries and spoke with him about the long-term issues associated with the New Brighton dock; She met with Minister Cullen and spoke with him about the New Brighton dock and the Sunshine Coast water supply issues; She met with Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Coulter about roads and the New Brighton dock; and She will be participating in an upcoming community meeting about the Hopkins Landing dock, which is currently closed, and in need of renovation. 4.
