Protecting Islands in the Salish Sea
Islands Trust Conservancy
Who we are:
Since 1990 Islands Trust Conservancy (ITC) has
dedicated its efforts to preserving and
protecting the fragile and unique ecosystems
of the Islands Trust Area in the Salish Sea. This
unique region covers approximately 79,000
hectares of land and over 482,000 hectares of
water on the southern coast of British
Columbia. It includes 450 islands between
southern Vancouver Island, mainland British
Columbia and Howe Sound.

Our mission is to protect these very special places by encouraging, undertaking, and
assisting in voluntary conservation initiatives across the Islands. Our work focuses on
ecosystem protection, habitat protection, climate change action, reconciliation, and
addressing species at risk on the islands.

Strategic Fund Development 
Make a cash donation
Donors to the Islands Trust Conservancy's Opportunity Fund have had an incredible
impact on the region. This fund allows ITC to deliver small grants to our partners at
critical times —like when they are starting a land acquisition project, or placing a
conservation covenant on land. Specific donations can be made for a special purpose
or to islands with an affiliated fund. 
Land and taxes
We work with individuals and communities to create Nature Reserves, making use
of the Federal Ecological Gifting program. We also can help protect privately
owned land through Conservation Covenants. Doing so can provide tax benefits
through the Islands Trust’s unique Natural Areas Protection Tax Exemption
Program (NAPTEP).
Shares, stocks and securities
Gifts of appreciated stock and securities are a tax effective way to make a donation.
You can provide our Securities Transfer form to your client’s broker with the client’s
instructions on the value of stock to be donated.
Gifts of insurance
Gifts of Life Insurance can be made through a newly acquired policy or an existing
policy during your lifetime by naming the Islands Trust Conservancy as a
beneficiary. Alternatively, the proceeds of a life insurance policy can be made in a
bequest through
