Thetis Island Local Trust Committee – 5 Jul 2022 – CVRD Area G Saltair/Gulf Islands Director Lynne Smith 
Report 
CVRD Regional Recreation – 9 Regionally Significant Recreation Facilities 
Prior to the 2022 usage data collection I advocated at the CVRD Board for the data collection involving 
Area G to be divided between Saltair and the Gulf Islands. This motion was approved.  
The 2021/2022 data collection indicates that the Area G Gulf Islands residents use these facilities. The 
usage data showed minimal usage by Gulf Island residents. I put forward a motion to exempt the Gulf 
Islands from Regional Recreation and the motion was defeated.  
Per CVRD Finance Dept. Staff “At the expected $202,122, the residential tax rate per $100,000 of 
assessed value would be $15.33. This is calculated as follows: $131,814,972 (converted assessed values 
for Area G) / 0.10 (10% conversion rate for residential properties) =  $1,318,149,720. $202,122 
(expected requisition) / $1,318,149,720 = $0.00015333 (tax rate per $1) x $100,000 = $15.33 (residential
