1994:K’ómoksFirst Nation, Canada, and B.C. began treaty negotiations.
2012: Signed an Agreement-in-Principle (AIP). AIP identified and definedrights and 
obligations, including interests in land and resources.
2019: Signed Agreement to Revitalize K’ómoksTreaty Negotiations
Summer/Fall 2022: Negotiations continue.
Fall 2022: B.C./Canada Land and Cash Offer anticipated.
Spring 2023: Target for Chief Negotiators’ understanding.
Summer 2023 and beyond: Treaty initialing and ratification by each Party, including a vote 
by K’ómoks Nation members.

•K’ómoksownership and jurisdiction
–K’ómoks will have law-making authority 
concerning the management, zoning and 
development of Treaty lands.
–All lands are considered private lands except those 
specifically identified as park or public lands.

K’ómoks Self-Governance in Treaty
•Recognizes K’ómoks’ right to self-govern and 
make laws (subject to limitations).
•K’ómoks may create laws when prepared to 
exercise authority, otherwise relevant federal 
and provincial laws apply.
