Public Invited to Islands Trust Council’s First Electronic Meeting  
 
Lekwungen, METULIYE/Victoria, BC – Islands Trust Council will make history on June 16
th
 and 17
th
 when they hold their first two-day 
electronic meeting using Zoom, an electronic video and audio conferencing system.  The meeting can be attended using a computer 
or device connected to the internet. Participants can also choose to attend using a telephone. 
 
Trust Council, through its provincial mandate, is responsible for preserving and protecting the 450 islands in the Salish Sea. Council 
meets quarterly to make decisions about matters that apply to the Islands Trust Area.  
 
“We usually meet in person, but COVID-19 related restrictions have made electronic meetings necessary,” shared Peter Luckham, 
Chair of Islands Trust Council. “It’s a great opportunity for people throughout the Islands Trust area to attend and meet widely across 
the Salish Sea. We encourage the curious and anyone interested in preserving and protecting the Islands Trust area to login or phone 
in to the meeting.  On day two, we will provide opportunity for the public to participate through Delegations and a Town Hall. We 
welcome your input, comments, ideas and feedback on topics related to the jurisdiction of the Islands Trust.”

June 16-17 dates and What’s New on the homepage. Newsletter subscribers will receive an update. 
 
Each meeting day begins at 9:00 AM.  The two-day agenda (DRAFT subject to change) includes: 
 Delegations  
Scheduled on day two, members of the public can talk to council www.islandstrust.bc.ca\talktocouncil  about matters that impact 
the whole Trust Area. Organizations and individuals who want to make a formal delegation will be given 10 minutes (time your 
presentation to allow for questions) to address Trust Council.  A written request must be received by Tuesday, May 26
th
, and any 
presentation or shared material e.g. Power Point must be received by June 8
th
 for review and approval by Executive Committee 
prior to the Trust Council meeting.

 if you wish to make a delegation presentation.  
 Town Hall 
Following the delegation presentations, Town Hall is open to anyone that wishes to address council.  Meeting attendees may ask 
questions and raise issues that impact the whole Trust Area, or make suggestions about Trust Council work. Depending on the 
number of people that wish to speak to council, between 3-5 minutes per person will be allotted.  Town Hall participants will not 
be able to share documents during the meeting.
