MINUTES OF THE LASQUETI ISLAND LOCAL TRUST COMMITTEE MEETING 
THURSDAY, JANUARY 12, 2012, 1:30 P.M.  
AT THE ISLANDS TRUST NORTHERN OFFICE,  
700 NORTH ROAD, GARIOLA ISLAND, BC

There were no members of the public present.

CALL TO ORDER 
 
The meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm. 
 
 
2. 
APPROVAL OF AGENDA 
 
It was suggested that the agenda be amended as follows: 
 
• Add 9. – Solar BC Grant for False Bay School-Local Trustee contact 
• Add 10 – Advisory Planning Commission Expressions of Interest-Update 
• Change “Adjournment” from Item 9 to Item 11 
 
The agenda was approved by consensus.

MINUTES 
 
3.1 Lasqueti Island Local Trust Committee Meeting Minutes dated October 20, 
2011 
 
It was acknowledged that as a general practice, the Lasqueti Island Local Trust 
Committee adopts Local Trust Committee minutes by resolution without 
meeting to have them available to the public as soon as possible.  The adopted 
minutes of October 20, 2011 were in today’s agenda package for information.

2012 BUSINESS MEETING SCHEDULE 
 
4.1 Proposed Local Trust Committee Meeting schedule 2012 - attached 
 
The Local Trust Committee reviewed the draft meeting schedule.  In regards to 
the alternative meetings shown for July, August and October, it was noted that 
it was better to hold more meetings in the summer when more people are 
present on island, and less meetings in winter when people are away from the 
island and ferry crossing can be rough.

LA-01-2012 It was MOVED and SECONDED that the proposed business meeting schedule 
be approved with the following meeting dates:   
 
•   Thursday, March 15, 2012 
•   Thursday, May 3, 2012 
•   Thursday, July 12, 2012 
•   Thursday, August 30, 2012 
•   Thursday, October 18, 2012

4.2 Public Notification of Local Trust Committee Meetings 
 
Planner Prowse stated that the Local Trust Committee procedures bylaw 
legally obligates the Local Trust Committee to post the notice of yearly 
meetings at the Lasqueti Community Hall notice board, and at the Victoria 
Islands Trust Office.  As a general practice, the meeting notice has also been 
posted at the Northern Islands Trust Office, and on the Islands Trust website.   
 
It was noted that the yearly meeting notice will also be posted on Lasqueti 
Island at the Arts Centre, the Post Office, at Mary Jane’s restaurant, and on the 
Lasqueti ferry. 
 
It was noted that if a Local Trust Committee meeting needed to be 
rescheduled, although not legally obligated, the notice of rescheduling the 
meeting would be posted 10 days   before the meeting at the above noted 
places.
