ON PROPOSED BYLAWS NO. 142 AND 143  
VACATION HOME RENTAL REGULATIONS 
HELD AT 7:30 PM, JUNE 28, 2011

There were thirty-three (33) members of the public in attendance. 
 
 
1. CALL TO ORDER 
 
The Chair called the meeting to order at 7:32 pm.  She welcomed the public and 
acknowledged that the meeting is taking place in the traditional territory of the Coast 
Salish First Nations.  Chair Bell introduced the Local Trustees, Island Planners and 
Minute Taker. 
 
Chair Bell explained that the purpose of the Community Information Meeting is to 
provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions and to clarify the proposed 
amendments to Bylaws 142 and 143 which address Official Community Plan policy 
changes and Land Use Bylaw regulations for vacation home rentals.  She advised that 
the meeting would continue as long as necessary to ensure that all questions have 
been answered. 
 
 
2. COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETING 
 
2.1 Summary of Bylaws 
 
Planner Porter explained that generally, the function of the proposed bylaw 
amendments is to allow for vacation home rentals as a permitted land use and 
to address potential impacts of vacation home rentals.  
 
He stated that the proposed amendment to Bylaw 1
