September 2020 Islands Trust Council Meeting Program Announced 
 
Lekwungen, METULIYE/Victoria, B.C. – The Islands Trust Council invites the public to participate in its next quarterly 
business meeting, being held online over two days, September 15-16, 2020.  The electronic meeting will be conducted 
using Zoom video and audio conferencing, and it will be live-streamed. 
 
“We usually meet in person, but COVID-19 related restrictions still apply, and electronic meetings continue to be 
necessary,” shared Peter Luckham, Chair of Islands Trust Council. “The benefit of this situation is that people from across 
the Trust area can attend the meeting. We encourage the curious and anyone interested in preserving and protecting the 
Islands Trust area to be part of the meeting. The public can watch the live stream, apply to present to Council or take part 
in the town hall portion of the meeting. We welcome input, comments, ideas and feedback on topics related to the 
jurisdiction of the Islands Trust.” 
 
Trust Council, works to preserve and protect over 450 islands in the Salish Sea. Council meets quarterly to make decisions 
about matters that apply to the Islands Trust area, and most of the two-day Trust Council meeting involves routine 
business. Trust Council receives, discusses and makes decisions about policies, finances, updates, recommendations and 
proposed work for the coming quarter.  There is also a Trustee roundtable where Council members exchange local 
information about initiatives, events, or developments of interest to all Trustees. On day two of the meeting, members of 
the public, who have successfully applied to be a delegation of one or more, present to Council, and there is a town hall.

Participate in the Town Hall 
The town hall portion of the meeting, on September 16, is an opportunity for the public to ask questions or share 
information about topics impacting the whole Trust area. Speakers usually have 3-5 minutes to speak, but there is no

Present to Council 
To formally present to Council on September 16 about matters impacting the whole Trust area, apply by August 25. Learn
