TRUST COUNCIL ELECTS NEW EXECUTIVE AND CONSERVANCY BOARD MEMBERS

VICTORIA  Yesterday, at its first meeting since the local government elections in October, the Islands Trust Council
elected a chair and three vice-chairs to form the Islands Trust Executive Committee for the 2018-2020 term. Council also
elected two representatives to sit on the Islands Trust Conservancy Board.

The Chair of the Islands Trust Council remains Peter Luckham from the Thetis Island Local Trust Area, now serving his
second term as chair. The three new vice-chairs are: Trustee Sue Ellen Fast of the Bowen Island Municipality, Trustee
Laura Patrick of the Salt Spring Island Local Trust Area, and Trustee Dan Rogers of the Gambier Island Local Trust Area.

The elections took place Thursday morning and came after a session on Wednesday where nominees made presentations
and answered questions from trustees about the skills and values they would bring to these leadership positions.

While the entire Islands Trust Council meets quarterly, the Executive Committee oversees the daily business of the Islands
Trust. It has legislated responsibilities to consider approval of bylaws developed by local trust committees and the Bowen
Island Municipality. Members also serve as chairs of the twelve local trust committees that have authority for land use
planning and regulation in the Islands Trust Area. The Chair of Islands Trust Council will appoint the chairs of the
individual local trusts committees on November 14, 2018.

“It is such an honour to be elected by Trust Council to once again serve as chair of the Islands Trust Council,” said Chair
Peter Luckham on his re-election. “I look forward to working with the new vice-chairs who were chosen this morning from
amongst a group of worthy candidates. During the presentations yesterday, we heard the impassioned voices of trustees
who are eager to tackle the important issues we face including affordable housing, climate change, and environmental
sustainability. The beginning of a new term of office represents a time of renewal for the Islands Trust but we remain, as
always, committed to preserving and protecting these precious islands in the Salish Sea for all British Columbians.”

On Thursday, the Islands Trust Council also elected Trustee Doug Fenton of the Thetis Island Local Trust Area and Trustee
Kate-Louise Stamford of the Gambier Island Local Trust Area to serve on the Islands Trust Conservancy Board, a land
conservancy for Canada’s islands in the Salish Sea. In the afterno
