THE BIG PICTURE: AN OVERVIEW OF THE ISLANDS TRUST
Background: To provide the new 2018-2022 Islands Trust Council with an overview of the Islands Trust
including governing legislation, key stakeholders and organizations that impact the Islands Trust,
organizational structure, and other contextual information. These elements are the foundation of the
upcoming term and key to a common understanding of service delivery.
Purpose:
1. To review guiding legislation of the Islands Trust and other relevant legislation.
2. To understand stakeholders and external forces that act upon the Islands Trust.
3. To introduce core policies and structures of the Islands Trust including Trust
Council, Executive Committee, Local Trust Committees, and the professional
organization.
4. To identify current First Nations engagement principles of the Islands Trust.
