Public Present: There were eleven (11) members of the public in attendance 
 
1. CALL TO ORDER 
 
Chair Grams called the meeting to order at 1:00 p.m. and acknowledged that the 
meeting was being held in territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. 
 
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA 
 
 By general consent the agenda as presented was Adopted. 
 
3. TOWN HALL AND QUESTIONS 
 
David Maude spoke to the garbage pick-up service currently being operated by his 
nephew.  Garbage is picked up on Monday and taken off island on Tuesday.  The truck 
is parked overnight on David’s property which is a 7.5 acre parcel, screened from 
neighbours.  The property is not zoned as a Waste Transfer Site.   
 
Chair Grams stated that the Mayne Island Local Trust Committee (LTC) has noted Mr. 
Maude’s comments.  Noise complaints fall under the Capital Regional District 
jurisdiction. 
 
Trustee Dodds questioned commercial vehicles being parked at residential settings ie: at 
home and whether this is permitted within zoning bylaws. 
 
Ian Dow stated that whenever there has been a “break” in garbage services, bags are 
left along the roadside.  He also asked if Planner Richardson had received any response 
from the CRD regarding Miners Bay Dock. 
 
Planner Richardson stated there had been no response to date.

7. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE MINUTES 
 
7.1 Follow-up Action List Dated September 2017 
 
Planner Richardson spoke to the Follow-up Action List.  He was unsure, at this 
time, when the First Nations event would be scheduled and asked if the LTC 
wanted to hold a special meeting or contained within a regular business meeting.  
The target is for the November 27
th
 regular meeting. 
 
Trustee Dodds spoke in favour of inclusion within the regular meeting and 
suggested an invitation be extended to Member of the Legislative Assembly 
(MLA) Adam Olsen.
