SUBJECT: Bylaw No. 296 – Gabriola Advisory Planning Commission Bylaw  
RECOMMENDATION 
1. That  third  reading  of Gabriola  Island  Local  Trust  Committee Bylaw  No.  296,  cited  as  "Gabriola  Island 
Local Trust Committee Advisory Planning Commission Bylaw, 2017", be rescinded. 
2. That Gabriola  Local  Trust  Committee Bylaw  No.  296, cited  as  "Gabriola  Island  Local  Trust Committee 
Advisory  Planning  Commission  Bylaw,  2017", Section  2.  Appointment  of  Members; subsection a),  is 
amended by replacing the word “seven” with the word “nine”. 
3. “That Gabriola Local Trust Committee Bylaw No. 296, cited as "Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee 
Advisory Planning Commission Bylaw, 2017", be read a third time, as amended.” 
4. That  Gabriola  Island  Local  Trust  Committee  Bylaw  No.  296,  cited  as  "Gabriola  Island  Local  Trust 
Committee Advisory Planning Commission Bylaw, 2017", be forwarded to the Secretary of the Islands 
Trust for approval by the Executive Committee. 
PURPOSE 
The  purpose  of  this  memorandum  is  to  request  that  the  Gabriola  Island  Local  Trust  Committee  (LTC)  amend 
proposed  Bylaw  No.  296  to  increase  the  maximum  number  of  Advisory  Planning  Commission  (APC)  members 
from seven (7) to nine (9), and to forward the bylaw to the Executive Committee for approval.  This is in response 
to direction from the LTC to staff prior to the conclusion of the regular business meeting of May 11, 2017 where 
there was insufficient time to consider amendments to the bylaw. 
NEXT STEPS 
Once the  noted  resolutions  have  passed,  staff  will  forward  Bylaw  No.  296  to  the  Executive  Committee  for 
consideration prior to final adoption by the LTC.

TRUST AREA PURSUANT TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT AND THE ISLANDS TRUST ACT 
 
The Gabriola Island  Trust  Committee,  being the Local Trust Committee having jurisdiction on and in respect of 
the Gabriola Island Local Trust Area in the Province of British Columbia, pursuant to the Islands Trust Act, enacts 
as follows:
