MINUTES OF THE MAYNE ISLAND
LOCAL TRUST COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 24, 2012 AT 1:00 P.M.
AT THE MAYNE ISLAND AGRICULTURAL HALL, MAYNE ISLAND, BC.
PRESENT: Peter Luckham Chair

There were approximately five (5) members of the public in attendance.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Luckham called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm, recognizing the Local Trust
Committee meeting was being held in the Coast Salish Territories, and introduced
himself, the Local Trustees and Islands Trust Staff.

The agenda was approved by consensus.
2.3 Tread Lightly
This is a publication from the Mayne Island Conservancy and is a reference
guide for the Island. It is distributed in the Welcome Box for new residents
and is also available in the Library. There are a number of community
organizations involved in the booklet. The Conservancy is requesting
financial assistance towards the printing cost. Trustee Dodds raised the need
for inclusion of a section to outline the concerns and issues regarding the
Foreshore.
Resolution MA-LTC-48-12.
It was Moved and Seconded that the Mayne Island Local
Trust Committee purchase a page in the Mayne Island
Conservancy Tread Lightly booklet for $100.00.

2.4 Grant Request
Mayne Island Community Centre – represented by Gail Noonan: The
Community Centre is looking to complete a grant application for funding of
Seniors Programs available through the Union of British Columbia
Municipalities. The request is for a portable dance floor and quotes to date
range from $6,300 to $14,000. The Centre would then sponsor dance and
movement classes in an effort to bring seniors together. This application is
being co-ordinated through the Local Trust Grant Coordinator.
Resolution MA-LTC-49-12.
It was Moved and Seconded that the Mayne Island Local
Trust Committee will support the application of the Mayne
Island Community Centre for an Age Friendly Community
Project Grant from the Union of British Columbia
Municipalities.
