Pender, Thetis December 12, 2023 – for immediate release 2023-10-IT Trust Council Receives the Islands Trust Housing Options Toolkit Lək ̓ ʷəŋən, METULIYE/Victoria, B.C. – Islands Trust Council received the new Islands Trust Housing Options Toolkit at its December Trust Council meeting, held in Victoria from December 5 – 7, 2023. Islands Trust created the Housing Options Toolkit to support housing-related and land use planning projects within the Islands Trust Area. The Toolkit addresses the need for housing options with resources and tools that trustees, planning staff and community groups can adapt for use within their island communities. "The development of the Islands Trust Housing Options Toolkit results from our clear commitment to shaping vibrant and sustainable communities within the Trust Area. This toolkit is a testament to our ongoing efforts to empower trustees, planning staff, and community groups in their pursuit of resilient and inclusive island communities,” said Islands Trust Chair Peter Luckham. “The Islands Trust Council remains steadfast in its dedication to addressing the housing equity and workforce shortage crisis in its work to preserve and protect the Islands Trust Area.” The Islands Trust Housing Options Toolkit is intended to be continuously enhanced and updated to address emerging challenges and align with the evolving needs of communities within the Trust Area.
