South Pender Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting November 14, 2017 ADOPTED Page 1 of 7 South Pender Island Local Trust Committee Minutes of Regular Meeting Date: Location: November 14, 2017 South Pender Fire Hall 8961 Gowlland Point Road, South Pender Island, BC Members Present: Peter Luckham, Chair Wendy Scholefield, Local Trustee Bruce McConchie, Local Trustee Staff Present: Robert Kojima, Regional Planning Manager Jason Youmans, Island Planner Robyn Ludwig, Recorder Public Present: There were approximately 8 members of the public in attendance. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Luckham called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. He acknowledged that the meeting was being held in territory of the Coast Salish First Nations. 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The following additions to the agenda were presented for consideration: 13.1 Greenburn Lake Beavers By general consent the agenda was approved as amended. 3. TOWN HALL AND QUESTIONS Peter Pare spoke on behalf of the organization “Moving around Pender”. He reported on the work being done to develop bicycle and pedestrian trails on the Pender islands. To aid in their discussions with the Provincial Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and with property owners, he requested that the Local Trust Committee formally designate future trail locations on South Pender. Paul Petrie, representing the South Pender Historical Society, reported on recent joint projects with the Tsawout First Nations, including language workshops, nature walks on First Nations property, salmon cookouts and, most recently, the Tsawout-Pender Youth Leadership Project. The Society is currently working with the Parish of Pender and Saturna Islands to arrange for the continued use of the Church of the Good Shepherd and its property for community events.
