AD O P T E D THLTC Meeting Minutes ADOPTED 1 August 1, 2012 MINUTES OF THE THETIS ISLAND LOCAL TRUST COMMITTEE BUSINESS MEETING HELD AT 1:30 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2012 AT THE THETIS ISLAND COMMUNITY CENTRE FORBES HALL, MAIN ROOM, NORTH COVE ROAD THETIS ISLAND, BC PRESENT Ken Hancock Chair Peter Luckham Local Trustee Sue French Local Trustee Courtney Simpson Island Planner Marnie Eggen Planner 1 Miles Drew Bylaw Enforcement Coordinator Janice Young Recorder There were eleven (11) members of the public in attendance. 1. CALL TO ORDER Chair Hancock called the meeting to order at 1:31pm. He made opening remarks, acknowledged Thetis Island as traditional territory of the Coast Salish people and expressed appreciation; welcomed the members of the public; and introduced himself, Local Trustees Sue French and Peter Luckham, Islands Trust Planners Courtney Simpson and Marnie Eggen, Bylaw Enforcement Coordinator Miles Drew, and Recorder Janice Young 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was adopted by consensus. 3. TOWN HALL Dan Giesbrecht of Ruxton Island expressed thanks for posted results of the Associated Islands Survey and suggested that the deadline for submitting responses to the survey be extended, especially the part regarding a vision for the future, and that at the end of the process a pamphlet or reference guide be made available as a sort of road map of how and where to begin for building and construction. Judy Shaw of Ruxton Island also expressed thanks for the posted results of the Associated Island Survey, and has reminded many people to submit their responses. In AD O P T E D THLTC Meeting Minutes ADOPTED 2 August 1, 2012 regards to the outcome, she pointed out that people would interpret the results in different ways, and that it is not necessarily true that people who live closer to the island care more. Judy also asked about what data the Advisory Planning Commission would receive and that the terms of reference regarding communication be clarified. Chair Hancock and Planner Simpson spoke to the Advisory Planning Commission Term of Reference. Survey results will be available to the Ruxton Island Advisory Planning Commission and feedback on the open-ended question in the survey can still be submitted. Ernie Hunter of Thetis Island asked about the Advisory Planning Commission, public attendance and input. Chair Hancock responded that an Advisory Planning Commission meeting is not intended to be a forum for public input, but that a Town Hall item can be included if the Advisory Planning Commission so desires. 4. MINUTES 4.1 Local Trust Committee Special Meeting Minutes of May 23, 2012 The minutes were adopted by consensus with the following amendments: Item 2. Approval of Agenda - First bullet, line three – change “arial” to “aerial”. Item 9. Local Trust Committee Projects - Line below 9.1.6 – change “fight”
