SUBJECT: Correspondence from Ministry of Municipal Affairs staff on Policy Statement Content
and Structure
PURPOSE: To provide Trust Programs Committee (TPC) with recent correspondence received from staff
at the Ministry of Municipal Affairs in response to TPC’s request for feedback on required or desired
content or structure for the Policy Statement.
BACKGROUND:
On February 11, 2022 during discussion about potential next steps to amend the Policy Statement, Trust
Programs Committee passed the following motion:
That Trust Programs Committee request staff to seek provincial staff feedback on required or
desired content or structure for the Policy Statement. (TPC 2022-003)
While Section 15 of the Islands Trust Act states that the Policy Statement “must be a general statement
of the policies of Trust Council to carry out the object of the Trust”, it does
