A copy of the proposed bylaws, the Public Hearing Binder and other information on the project is available on the Mayne Island Project webpage and, at the Islands Trust office at 200-1627 Fort Street, Victoria, BC, V8R 1H8 from the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, after July 8, 2022. Proposed Bylaw No. 184 will amend the Mayne Island Land Use Bylaw and proposed Bylaw No. 189 will amend the Mayne Island Official Community Plan to enable the introduction of what has been termed by the Local Trust Committee as “flexible housing”. Flexible Housing zoning allows for the development of dwelling units additional to what is permitted in existing zoning within a combined maximum floor area for all dwellings. Flexible zoning is proposed to be implemented in a pilot area identified in the proposed Bylaw No. 184. A number of Community Information Meetings were held over the course of the last year to gather information and input from the public. Who should attend? Anyone affected by the proposed bylaws.
